Job Description
JOB TITLE: Program Aide
DEPARTMENT: Senior Services
STATUS: Part-Time (Non-Exempt)
TERM: 12 months
REPORTS TO: ADCRC Coordinator
HOURS PER WEEK: 28 hrs.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Alzheimer’s Day Care Resource Center (ADCRC) Coordinator, assists with the day-to-day operations of the program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise program participants, escorting them to the restroom and assisting incontinent seniors.
- Assist with meal set-up, service, and clean-up.
- Lay out, assist with, and put away arts and craft materials.
- Report any unusual client behavior to ADCRC Coordinator.
- Clean supply cabinets, as needed.
- Other duties, as required or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to patiently work with the elderly who may be dementia-afflicted.
- Possess a cheerful and friendly disposition; must be bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Be computer literate, familiar with Microsoft Office.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma, or equivalent, preferred but not required; Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA) certificate also preferred.
- Experience in working with dementia-afflicted seniors desirable.
- Experience in creating arts and craft projects and other mind-stimulating games for older adults is also desirable, but not required.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Some driving is required. Must provide own vehicle, valid California driver license and proof of full insurance coverage.
- Negative tuberculosis screen (required).
- We require the selected candidate to undergo a Live Scan (background check) during the hiring process.

ADCRC Program Aides are required to perform the following duties which include but are not limited to: constant walking, bending, and occasional lifting/moving (25 pounds). The location has moderate noise levels and is a non-smoking environment.
