Senior Services Testimonial: Carole and Mary

Carole, age 77, and Mary, age 99, have been proud attendees of our congregate meals site at the Weingart Senior Center for over 30 years. Their history with HSA began when Carole’s grandmother, who lived across the street from the Center, discovered the program. She quickly introduced her daughter and granddaughter to the congregate meals, and began the tradition of their family attending. After Carole’s grandmother passed away, Carole continued to attend with her mother since she loved the service so much.

When asked what her favorite part of the program is, Carole answers, “the meals themselves! They are always very tasty and nutritious and come with milk to drink. We also receive frozen meals for the weekend. You can’t beat the quality for the price anywhere else!”

Carole and Mary also love the events hosted by our program during holidays and other festive occasions. “Enjoying the company of friends, meeting new people, and celebrating holidays here make me so happy. It keeps me and my mom from feeling isolated and being at home too much,” says Carole.

As part of Carole’s comments, she also points to the staff as part of what makes the program special. “They are so kind and so patient with all of us. They are understanding of issues we face sometimes as seniors. Even with my mom, when she comes in feeling down or grouchy, they give her extra attention, joke with her and make her laugh, and it changes her whole mood. They are so helpful!”
