2020 Census

Every 10 years, the Census counts every person living in the United States with a survey. The count will determine how much money your community will receive annually for education, healthcare, head starts, housing, roads, emergency programs, social safety net programs like Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), WIC, Medi-cal and many more. The goal is to count EVERYONE!

When does the Census happen?

  • March 2020: Surveys are mailed out asking households to respond to the census. Reminder letters will be sent out towards the end of the month.
  • April 1, 2020: Census Day
  • April 2020: Reminder postcards will be mailed to households who haven’t responded.
  • May 2020: Census takers will visit households that have not responded.
